creative itch, strong visual imagination
hilda - based on strange scandinavian tales from the nineteeth centry. mature yet a particular feeling that was intended to transform into an accessible children's adventure. kind of like a positive force for children.
how do you tell stories while creating art to enhance it?
mix of colors and movements accentuated in animation alongside, what i believe, the fact that cartoons literally don't exist in reality. that's kind of like why dragons are cool while lizards (in your yard) are boring.
but also, how do you translate these messages and storylines where children can follow outside of the glamour of animation?
adults are adults. we're not children so we communicate through art what we believe in or more importantly, what we want the later generations to inherit. and these values/themes have to be broken down enough for kids to understand but not too broken down that the animators lose focus on what they're trying to portray. often times, i find myself thinking back on some of the "kid animated" shows or movies i've watched more than the live-action "rated r" shit i've watched.
