personal canon: how to change your life (pt. 2)

got to say, this person is really good at fuckin writing and making me want to write. highly recommend her substack as she not only covers philosophy but other writers' work. even as small as a "2024 recap" where she's appreciate of its flow and conclusion.

furthermore, just reading how she conjures the idea that magic comes from the many small steps beforehand. it truly resonates with all types of effort -- hobby or work -- where aspiration and motivation must be balanced in order to create something. not to satisfy but to bring forth further desire. as she writes in this essay, life is a 4000 page novel. and no one really writes 4000 pages! unless it's a textbook but i digress. 4000 pages can include so much of so many different things as well. 50% short stories:25% essays: 25% novels? or 100% essays? or even 95% memos: 5% novels? so much variety can exist within 4000 pages and so can be included in ones' life.

while having clear-cut goals can be beneficial for our lives, it's also essential to remember that life isn't one long sprint. it's a marathon with a bunch of sprints and maybe crawls. that is up to ourselves to find and struggles endlessly for. not struggle in the negative sense but understand that life is full of mystery and there is always something new that we can put upon the foundation that we call ourselves.

quite a tangent here but truly a beautiful piece of writing.
